Torres Strait (Tagai)
Utimal
Utimal (Seg) is the other six crew in Orion, told to stay in the northern sky away from Tagai.
Boorong Kulkunbulla also uses Orion. The switcher exists so a Victorian dance and an Islander punishment story do not become one belt of three stars with a confused caption.
Seasonally the pair with Usal still clocks gardens and hunting.
Mercury draws Orion’s belt only with Tagai names while that pack is on.
Mercury 91 is not affiliated with any Aboriginal Land Council, Torres Strait Islander organisation, museum, or Stellarium. This library cites published ethnoastronomy. It is not a partnership and not a single pan-Aboriginal sky.
